| Full Service Laboratory Applied Consumer Services, Inc. provides deformulation, formulation, reformulation, technical consulting and testing of most consumer products such as foods, supplements, beverages, water, herbs, vitamins, minerals, drugs, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, consumer products, hair products, waxes, coatings, paints, ceramics, household cleaners, plastics, metals, and construction materials. We can conduct a deformulation by separations and chemical analysis to determine the ingredients and their levels. We also do deformulation of complex mixtures. We also provide failure analysis, forensic investigations, and patent services. Our scientists and engineers can help with a wide variety of R&D projects. We offer food nutrition labeling, food analysis, cosmetic analysis, and other FDA related services. For 20 years, we have been successful in solving a wide variety of difficult technical challenges. For a complete list of our capabilities, click here. Please click here for non-disclosure agreement. We have one of the most versatile analytical chemistry laboratories in the country and have been successful in solving difficult technical problems. Food Analysis and Testing We provide all types of chemical, microbiological, and physical testing of foods and supplements. For foods, we provide nutrition label analysis, including total fat, saturated fat, mono-unsaturated fat, polyunsaturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, carbohydrates, dietary fiber, sugars, protein, calories, calcium, sodium, iron, vitamin A and vitamin C. Additional nutrients can also be determined. We will suggest any FDA permitted label claims. On January 1, 2006, the FDA requires that the trans fat level be listed on the nutrition label. We can create new and improved foods and food supplements. In some cases, we can submit a patent application to the USPTO. Organoleptic, shelf-life, accelerated aging tests, and many other tests can be provided. Formulation, reformulation, and preservation research can be provided. Chemical Analysis, Professional Testimony, On-Site Scientific Testing World wide testing either in our lab or at your facility. We provide a wide variety of chemical, physical and microbiological analyses. Chemical analysis can be performed by an official method or we can develop a unique in house procedure to meet your requirements. Consider us your employee for quality control, air analysis, water treatment testing, determination of physical properties, and forensic investigations. Call us for more applications of our chemical laboratory. Applied Consumer Services can give expert testimony on suspect arson, poisons, toxic substances, slip and fall, and more. We can provide expert forensic witnesses in several fields of chemistry and microbiology. See our forensic page for additional information. |

| Indoor Air Quality Testing We sample indoor air for levels of bacteria, mold, particulates, carbon monoxide, and organic vapors. Mold surveys and forensic investigations are available. Using a quantitative Andersen microbe sampling technique, we determine the levels of respirable and non-respirable microbes. We also swab samples and air settled microbe samples can be taken for analysis. In many cases, we sample and analyze the outdoor air for comparison. For legal cases, if needed, we can provide a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) to assist in the sampling. The presence of most organic contaminants can be screened using an electronic probe. Sampling, identification and levels of organic vapors are provided by trapping ambient air on charcoal and/or Tenax absorbents, eluting with solvent, and analyzing using gas chromatography with mass spectroscopy (GC/MS) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Product Formulation, Reformulation, and Deformulation. We will work with you to create a custom formula which will be your proprietary property. We can deformulate existing formulas and generally create a close copy of the formula or, in some cases, improve the formula. Some of the techniques that we utilize to deformulate products are wet chemistry, rotary evaporation, distillation, thin layer chromatography, paper chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, liquid chromatography/mass spectroscopy, column chromatography, gas chromatography with FID, gas chromatography with mass spectroscopy, ion chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance, x-ray fluorescence, x-ray diffraction, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography, visible and ultraviolet spectroscopy, atomic absorption spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma, energy dispersive spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy with EDS, crystallography, fluorimetry, polarimetry, refractometry, and many others. Our minimum fee for a simple deformulation is $700.00. Add $100.00 or more for each ingredient above 4 in the product. We can also make a small trial batch for your evaluation. Patent Search, Patent Disclosure, and Patent Application We can provide a patent search ($500.00) using the USPTO on-line and write up a patent disclosure ($410.00) to send to the USPTO. Also we can provide the utility patent application for a retainer of $1500.00 which does not include drawings, if needed (Generally $300.00), consultation with a patent attorney, if needed.(Generally $800.00), or the USPTO fee (Generally $390.00).
